![]() Welcome to Plum Grove Bison Ranch.
This 3rd generation ranch is located just 50 miles west of our state's capital, Bismarck and about 6 miles from the wonderful community of Glen Ullin, ND. My wife and I and our 2 girls moved back to the ranch where I grew up to raise one of this nations most historic and glorious animals, the North American Bison. We feel privelaged to be able to do what we do here in this great state of North Dakota. We do have a dilema this year though. Very dry conditions for the last 2 years have left us looking at the realization that we need to cut out some of the herd and so we are offering the opportunity for you to harvest some of our cull cows. ![]() This is a harvest and not a hunt. We take very good care of our herd and
they are familiar with people and so it will not be much of a challenge
approaching them. Bring them down however is your challenge, if you choose to
accept it. Here's your chance to take home some very healthy and very tasty
red meat.
![]() 6 year old bison cow $1.25/lb hanging weight (approx 500 - 550 lbs.) When I bought them as calves I had the horns cut off as you can see. However, if you do want a skull to hang on your office wall I have some extra's on hand. 2 year old bison heifer $1.50/lb hanging weight (approx 450-500) These young heifers would make very tender meat since they are younger. You get the hide, head, and all the meat. The harvest takes place on roughly 500 acres of rugged prairie. We can load it up for you and haul it to a local butcher shop for processing. The charge for processing is roughly .30 cents/lb hanging weight, which is between you and the butcher. A $100 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your harvest animal, which will be applied to the total cost. Balance is due before the harvest. I work full time in television as a cameraman so I can also provide you with a high quality video to capture your experience for an additional $250. Look around! This is a deal! We'll even have a cold beverage waiting for you when you get back. Take this opportunity to come and visit our beautiful ranch and stock your freezer with some great sustenance. Here's a little slice of history! You've heard about Lewis and Clark no doubt. Their group was called the "Corp of Discovery" . They spent the winter of 1804-1805 about 70 miles from our ranch on the Missouri. The men of the Corp of Discovery ate 7-9 pounds of bison meat a day. Now that's manly! While I don't expect you to eat that much, (I love bison meat but would gag after a week of that) I certainly think you deserve to have it once or twice a week. And at this price you can afford to have it that much. Please call us (701-348-3737) or email us (dgeck@pol.org) and we'll visit more about this. Thanks Dave & Kris Geck |
